Project Background and Objective of the assignment:

The Career Management Workshop is part of the Capacity Development Learning Facility (CDLF) 2024 initiative, aimed at preparing UN Volunteers to effectively plan and manage their careers. Scheduled for December 16, 2024, the workshop will provide participants with critical skills in career planning, personal branding, networking, and competency-based interviews.

The objectives of the Career management workshop is to help the United Nation Volunteers to enhance their professional skills in:

  • Personal branding, reputation management and networking.
  • Mastering the Application process and CV Clinic
  • A career with purpose to help participants with a strength and values-based approach  
  • Showcase the skillset and experience in Competency Based Interviews (CBIs)
  • Understand current and future trends in the job market.
  • Set career goals using frameworks like SMART and S.O.A.R.
  • Develop practical skills for CV preparation, interviews, and career growth.

This three-day workshop is a vital component of CDLF's mission to foster professional growth, motivation, and empowerment among UN Volunteers. It equips them with the skills and confidence to act as change agents within their host agencies and communities, contributing to impactful outcomes during their assignments and beyond.

Scope of work: ·        Review the already designed Materials and deliver a three-day Career Management Workshop tailored to 30–40 participants. ·        In coordination with the international Trainer and the UNV office Capacity development team contextualize the training materials and handouts addressing career development topics.

Facilitate sessions on:

  • Career trends and management strategies.
  • Personal branding, networking, and reputation management.
  • CV writing and competency-based interview techniques.
·       Conduct pre- and post-training assessments to measure learning outcomes. ·       Provide a comprehensive summary report detailing training outcomes, participant feedback, and recommendations. Lead sessions on navigating change, aligning individual roles with organizational goals, and translating strategic thinking into actionable plans. ·       Deliver engaging training sessions using a mix of methodologies, including workshops, simulations, and group discussions, to promote active learning and participation. ·       Create and curate training materials, including handouts, presentations, and digital content, that are current and relevant to participants' needs. ·       Continuously engage with the UNV office Talent Acquisition team. ·       Provide a summary report outlining participant feedback, training outcomes, and recommendations for further development.

 

Institutional arrangement: The Trainer will work under the supervision and guidance of the UNV Country coordinator in Afghanistan and in close collaboration with Capacity Development team of UNV-HQ. Payment: Monthly basis is 3000 USD/ 500 USD per five days. Duration of the assignment:  21 to 25 December 2024 Duty station: Kabul ·        A minimum of 4-7 years of experience in career development, coaching, or organizational development, with a strong background in designing and delivering impactful training programs for diverse audiences. ·        Strong understanding of career planning frameworks, personal branding strategies, and professional development techniques, with the ability to apply these concepts in diverse organizational contexts. ·       Demonstrated experience in conducting engaging training sessions and workshops, utilizing various instructional methods to cater to different learning styles. ·        Excellent verbal and written communication abilities, with the capacity to convey complex ideas clearly and inspire participants at all levels of the organization. ·        Previous experience in facilitating career management workshops and capacity-building programs for the UN and INGOs is an advantage.

·       Strong interpersonal and communication skills. ·       Deep knowledge of career planning principles, professional development strategies, and coaching frameworks, with the capability to apply theoretical concepts in practical contexts. ·       Expertise in creating an energetic and supportive learning environment that encourages active participation and enthusiasm for learning. ·       Flexibility to adjust training methods and materials based on participant feedback and evolving organizational needs.

Language Requirements:

Proficiency in written and spoken English and fluency in local languages, Pashto and Dari is required.
