Job Summary :

Fruit and vegetable Dryer Training Specialist

Job Requirements :

Scope of work:

The Trainer will undertake the following tasks:

A Fruits and Vegetables Drying/Dehydration Trainer is responsible for drying/dehydration of various types of fruits and vegetables through the process of washing, sorting, peeling, cutting/slicing, blanching, sulphurizing, drying /dehydration, using various methods, packaging, and storing.

  • Develop a detailed training program tailored to the needs of the beneficiaries.
  • Conduct on-site training sessions in the following districts:
    1. Kabul:     [Qala-i-naw village of Paghman District and Malangul Qala village of Kahk-e- jabar district]
    2. Wardak: [Biddary village of Chak district, Pul-e-suhrab Takana village of Jalriz district, Badam Village of Nirkh district, Khwaja Aab village of Jaghato district and Gedar Khil village of Sayedabad District]
    3. Kapisa:  [Zarghoonat Village of Koh band district, Darr village of Alasai district and Ali khail village of Mahmood Raqi district
  • Provide hands-on demonstrations and practical sessions on using the fruit dryers.
  • Train beneficiaries on routine maintenance and troubleshooting of the fruit dryers.
  • Educate beneficiaries on various fruit drying techniques to ensure quality dried fruit.
  • Develop and distribute user manuals and training materials in the local language.
  • Conduct follow-up visits to ensure proper implementation and address any issues faced by the beneficiaries.

Deliverables

The Trainer is expected to deliver the following:

  1. A comprehensive training plan and schedule.
  2. User manuals and training materials in the local language.
  3. Detailed training reports for each district.
  4. A final report summarizing the training sessions, including feedback from beneficiaries and recommendations for future support.

 

Institutional arrangement: The Trainer will work under the supervision and guidance of the Area Manager for Central region and in close collaboration with team.

Payment: Monthly bases

Duration of the assignment: 2 months (August to September 2024)

Duty station: Kabul with travel to Kapisa & Wardak province.

Education: Master or BSc degree in agriculture or any relevant sector. 

  • 5 years of relevant experience with Master should have.
  • 7 years of relevant experience with Bachelor/BSc

Experience and Skills:

  • Proven experience in conducting training programs, particularly in the field of agricultural technology or food processing.
  • In-depth knowledge of fruit drying, sorting, and packing techniques and equipment.
  • Ability to develop and deliver training materials in the local language.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Prior experience working in rural settings and with diverse beneficiary groups.
  • He or she will be able to provide on job training practically.
  • He or she will be able to provide manual and training materials, schedule and other training related support documents

Competencies:      

  • Strong interpersonal.      
  • Good oral and analytical communication and writing skills.

Language Requirements:

Proficiency in written and spoken in local languages, Pashto and Dari is required, fluency in English is asset.
